Velaa Private Island

Love for padel, dialled up a notch. That’s Velaa, alright. Envision a tropical island with palm trees, glistening white sandy beaches, and, yes then a padel court nestled deep in the jungle. Sound like a fantasy? It’s not. It’s Velaa – padel’s Maldivian moment.

Padel in Paradise
Padel is a sport we at Club Àguilas love (tell us something we don’t know). Yet, our love for the sport was dialled up a notch when we discovered that padel in the Maldives was a thing. A real thing. And a thing that we wanted in on.
Envision a tropical island with palm trees, glistening white sandy beaches, and, yes then a padel court nestled deep in the jungle. Still with us? Good. Because it might sound like a fantasy but it’s not. It’s Velaa – padel’s Maldivian moment.
Velaa is a private island resort in the Maldives, the dream island escape that exudes luxury. You arrive by seaplane and dip your toes into the Indian Ocean as you walk up to your villa, surrounded by crystal azure waters home to some of the most biodiverse marine life in the world. Pure bliss. One look around our opulent villa? Life’s pretty good.
Staying on Velaa isn’t just about sailing on yachts or scuba diving with manta rays - dreamy as that sounds - there’s padel, and plenty of it. Padel courts in the heart of this desirable desert island. Padel in the heart of nature. The sounds of the game are accompanied by the sounds of the ocean. This is padel Maldivian style, where breaks in play involve a quick dip in the ocean.

In its pursuit of luxury, Velaa leaves no stone unturned when it comes to facilities. Its pair of padel courts alongside squash, tennis and gym facilities provide everything you need to stay active on your visit.
If you’ve pushed yourself too hard during a session, Velaa offers plenty of facilities to help you recover. Visit the Wellness Village to enjoy traditional massages, osteo treatment, saunas, and even a snow room to soothe your muscles. Yogis’ appetite is satisfied through the various yoga classes on tap, or you can find your zen in a CLOUD 9 flotation pod. If you’re too tired to move, you can enjoy a private spa treatment in your villa.
Should you want a break from racket sports, there’s a golf course designed by two-time former Masters Champion, José María Olazábal, a five-a-side football pitch, beach volleyball court and even a climbing wall. The endless expanse of the ocean can be explored by sailboats or more modern options like flyboarding, hoverboarding, and electric foil surfboards - activities you might not have known even existed until you arrived.

It will be no surprise that staying on a private island means an atmosphere of luxury and relaxation. Picture days spent lounging by the beach, sipping cocktails while your children are happily engaged at Velaa’s kids’ club.
Now, with the addition of padel to Velaa, no matter how intense your games get, the swaying palms and gentle hum of the ocean will always ease any tension. You’re not just coming here for the padel; you’re coming for the beauty of the Maldives, with the bonus of playing padel immersed within that. Sounds like a win to us.

No matter whether you are running from one activity to another or simply soaking in some rays, you’ll never be lacking fuel at Velaa. In true luxury fashion, there are five restaurants to choose from. By day, you can stop by Athiri, the all-day restaurant, lounge by the pool at Avi, or if you’re feeling especially health-conscious, Faiy offers light bites with an all-natural menu. The standouts are Aragu, the island’s fine dining restaurant, and Tayaru, a teppanyaki restaurant atop a secret wine cellar.
If you are really looking to elevate your game, wellness experts are available to create a personalized meal plan and supplements for your stay.

As you would imagine, in the spirit of paradise there is an army of people seeing to your every need, but in reality, there is only really one person who takes your experience from being fantastic to spectacular. Your private butler. Your time on the island is accompanied by a private butler who’s only responsibility is to ensure you have what you need when you need it. They will always be happy to arrange an activity whether it be a fishing trip, padel court or dinner reservation. From the boat boys to golf pros, tennis coaches to waiters nothing is too much trouble in padel paradise.

The padel courts, built by world renowned specialists MejorSet, are designed to fully embrace nature. The courts are fully panoramic, seamlessly integrating with the breathtaking beauty of the Maldives.
Being next to each other also allows for a very inclusive atmosphere with players being able to swap between courts when the tension becomes too much. The location is perfect for involving large groups with a shaded viewing area allowing for players to swap off and rest before their next bout.

Expert coaches are always on hand, whether you are a complete beginner or a seasoned vet. If you time your stay well, Velaa even bring out padel celebrities as guest coaches, such as Spanish pro padel player and former tennis player, Marta Marrero, who visited earlier this year.

The padel setup is new and developing by the day. They make sure to offer both private and group coaching as well as run both social and competitive tournaments. For those looking for a game, the nature of the resort allows for you to easily track down fellow keen players and put on a spectacle for the rest of your friends.
